82 Domes
The mosque features 82 domes of different sizes.
The largest rises above the main prayer hall to approximately 84 meters, with a diameter of about 32.6 metres.1,096
Exterior Columns
The exterior arcades are surrounded by 1,096 marble columns decorated with semi-precious stones.
Their design is inspired by the date palm, an important symbol of Emirati culture.
A 35-Ton Hand-Knotted Carpet
The main prayer hall contains a spectacular 5,400-square-metre carpet created by approximately 1,200 artisans.
It was produced in nine separate sections before being transported to Abu Dhabi and assembled inside the mosque.
Look Closely at the Prayer Lines
The 32 raised prayer lines visible across the carpet are not seams.
The surrounding carpet was carefully shaved so the lines remain slightly elevated, helping worshippers position themselves during prayer.
Chandeliers Inspired by Date Palms
The mosque’s seven chandeliers contain another hidden design detail: their forms are inspired by date palms, with elements representing the trunk, fronds and fruit of the tree.
107-Metre Minarets
Four minarets rise from the corners of the courtyard to approximately 107 metres, making them the tallest architectural features of the mosque.
